EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) welcomed the holy month of Ramadhan 1447 Hijri by organizing a series of religious activities centered at its two campus mosques throughout Ramadhan 2026. Coordinated by the Mosque Prosperity Council (Dewan Kemakmuran Masjid/DKM), the programs, which commenced at the beginning of Ramadhan, are intended for the academic community and residents living around the campus. The initiatives focus on strengthening spirituality, promoting Islamic values, and fostering social solidarity within the State Defense Campus environment.

The Head of DKM UPNVJ, Suprima, explained that the two campus mosques—Masjid Manbaul ‘Ulum at the Pondok Labu Campus and Masjid Al Fikri at the Limo Campus—will serve as the main centers of Ramadhan activities this year. “The distribution of takjil and iftar meals will be carried out through the UPNVJ Mosque at the Pondok Labu Campus and the UPNVJ Mosque at the Limo Campus. The objective is to enliven the spirit of Ramadhan through our campus mosques. We hope our mosques will be increasingly attended by congregants,” Suprima stated.

The series of activities includes communal iftar (breaking of the fast), a 45-minute religious lecture prior to iftar, congregational tarawih prayers, and short sermons (kultum) after the Zuhur prayer. All programs are designed to enhance religious understanding while cultivating a devout and inclusive campus atmosphere during the holy month.

The iftar program is scheduled to run for 15 days during Ramadhan. The committee will provide takjil and evening meals with a capacity of approximately 100 participants per day at Masjid Manbaul ‘Ulum, Pondok Labu Campus, and around 50 participants per day at Masjid Al Fikri, Limo Campus. This arrangement has been carefully planned in consideration of each mosque’s capacity and the needs of worshippers at the respective campuses.

Substantively, these activities not only fulfill individual spiritual needs but also reinforce values of togetherness and social care. The month of Ramadhan is utilized as a platform for interaction among students, lecturers, administrative staff, and the surrounding community in an atmosphere of warmth and solidarity.

The Rector of UPNVJ, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., emphasized that strengthening the character and spirituality of the academic community is an integral part of UPNVJ’s identity as a State Defense Campus. According to him, Ramadhan serves as a strategic momentum to instill discipline, empathy, and social responsibility. “A university is not merely an academic space, but also a space for character formation. Through Ramadhan activities, we reinforce integrity, compassion, and the spirit of togetherness as the foundation for building an excellent and competitive generation,” he remarked.

The DKM of UPNVJ invites the entire academic community to actively participate in enlivening the mosques during the holy month. Through collective participation, UPNVJ hopes that Ramadhan 1447 Hijri will become a meaningful opportunity to enhance the quality of worship while strengthening a religious, harmonious campus culture that positively impacts the surrounding community.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
