EduAsiaNews, Bandung — The Lembaga Wakaf Universitas Padjadjaran has received a waqf contribution amounting to IDR 2 billion from ParagonCorp for the construction of a Shared Classroom Building. The handover of the waqf was marked by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement held at Bale Sawala, Rectorate Building of Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor Campus, on Friday, 13 February 2026.
“Waqf instruments today have become increasingly diverse. Unpad has Cash Waqf, which refers to waqf provided in the form of money, while the benefits utilized derive from its investment returns. In addition, there is also Waqf Through Money, which is more specific, namely waqf in the form of money designated for particular programs, such as that contributed by Paragon,” explained the Chairman of the Unpad Waqf Institution and Vice Rector for Planning, Digital Transformation, Finance, and Business Management, Prof. Maman Setiawan, in his remarks.
Prof. Maman further stated that in the previous year, the Unpad Waqf Institution implemented two principal programs, namely Wakaf Sauyunan and the Shared Classroom Building Waqf, encompassing both Cash Waqf and Waqf Through Money schemes. The benefits of Wakaf Sauyunan have been allocated to scholarships for underprivileged and high-achieving students, student research assistance, and the empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Meanwhile, the benefits derived from Waqf Through Money are directed toward the construction of the Shared Classroom Building and other facilities.
Executive Vice President and Chief Administration Officer of ParagonCorp, Miftahuddin Amin, conveyed that the initiative to provide the waqf contribution originated from discussions with Unpad regarding the importance of adequate learning facilities to ensure that the academic process can be conducted more optimally.
“We (Paragon) have the intention to contribute to the construction of a building, and this forms part of our movement to collectively support activities and infrastructure development through the waqf funding scheme, which is currently being promoted and strengthened by the government,” stated Miftahuddin.
The signing of this cooperation agreement marks a strategic step in strengthening collaboration between Unpad and Paragon in supporting the development of educational facilities through waqf management. Through the Shared Classroom Building development program, Unpad hopes that the utilization of waqf funds will generate sustainable impacts in enhancing the quality of learning, while also broadening social benefits for the academic community and society at large.
