EduAsiaNews, Surabaya – Students of the Master of Notarial Law Program, Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), have recently achieved a remarkable accomplishment. The Master’s Program in Notarial Law team excelled in the Notarial Deed Drafting Competition held as part of Notary Week, organized by the Faculty of Law of Universitas Indonesia (UI). In the competition, which took place on Saturday (7/2/2026), the UNAIR team secured second place. The team was led by Reyhan Hari Kharismawan, with members Diyani Cholifa, Aan Wahana Prayoga, Jindan Maulana Aldi, and Nurzamzawiah Kudus.

Notary Week of the UI Faculty of Law is a flagship program organized by the Notarial Law Master’s Student Association of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia. This year, the event carried the theme “Strengthening the Legal Framework in Notarial Aspects to Support Investment and Spatial Management in Indonesia” with the tagline “Fostering Unity, Enhancing Scholarship.” The competition provided participants with an opportunity to apply their notarial knowledge, refine practical skills, strengthen academic competence, and expand their national network in the field of notarial law.

The Beginning of the Competition and Team Motivation

Reyhan Hari Kharismawan, the team leader, shared how they first learned about the competition. “To be honest, I was not the first to find out about it. It was one of our team members, Aan Wahana, who discovered the information. He has a strong interest in seeking competitions, particularly those intended for Master’s students in the Notarial Law Program. Aan obtained the information through the official Instagram account of Notary Week UI, as well as from a previous cohort that had participated in the competition in 2025,” he explained.

Reyhan added that competitions specifically designed for the Master’s Program in Notarial Law are relatively rare, which heightened their enthusiasm upon learning of the opportunity. “This competition not only tested our ability to draft a notarial deed, but also simulated the practice of deed reading by a Notary, including various potential situations that may arise during such proceedings,” he added.

Challenges Encountered

The greatest challenge faced by the team was the complexity of the case provided by the organizers. “The case involved investment in special zones and land law issues in Indonesia. We had to address it meticulously. However, with the guidance of our mentor, Dr. Sri Wahyu Jatmikowati, S.H., M.H., our direction became clearer,” Reyhan stated.

In addition, the team acknowledged the challenge of time management. Three out of the five team members are working professionals who had to balance academic responsibilities with their employment. “Time management was indeed a challenge. Nevertheless, through effective scheduling and a well-structured division of tasks, we were able to produce optimal and high-quality results,” Reyhan concluded.

A Memorable Experience

This experience was undoubtedly meaningful for Reyhan and his team. “Alhamdulillah, we were still able to achieve excellence and bring honor to Universitas Airlangga at the national level. The entire process we went through until the final round left a profound impression on us as a team,” he expressed gratefully. He further added that the competition also provided an opportunity to meet fellow Master’s students in Notarial Law from various universities across Indonesia. “Our professional network has expanded, and this is truly a valuable experience,” Reyhan continued.

Reyhan also conveyed an important message to other students, particularly those balancing academic pursuits with professional commitments. “To anyone who will represent UNAIR in the future, especially Master’s students who are also working, in any event, give your utmost dedication. Demonstrate that as students and professionals, we can, God willing, achieve excellence both for ourselves and for Universitas Airlangga,” Reyhan advised.
