EduAsiaNews, Bogor – The Rector of IPB University, Dr. Alim Setiawan Slamet, officially inaugurated 43 new structural officials. The inauguration ceremony was held solemnly at Grha Widya Wisuda, IPB Dramaga Campus, on Friday (20/2).
In his remarks, the Rector stated, “Today’s inauguration forms part of IPB University’s strategic organizational transformation. This transformation is undertaken with the primary objectives of strengthening relevance, accelerating impact, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of IPB University.”
He further emphasized that the newly appointed officials are expected to exercise leadership that is collaborative, adaptive, and future-oriented. All units, faculties, schools, and institutes are encouraged to move in alignment to enhance academic quality, research excellence, student services, and meaningful contributions to the nation.
According to the Rector, the roles of Vice Deans and Heads of Departments are particularly crucial as key drivers of progress within faculties and schools. They are expected to elevate academic standards, increase research productivity, improve student services, expand partnerships, and foster an ecosystem conducive to the development of innovation and outstanding talent.
The Rector also underscored the strategic role of the Director of Student Affairs in advancing student achievements, including restoring IPB’s position as Overall Champion at the Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional (Pimnas), promoting student organizations to the global stage, and ensuring student welfare.
Meanwhile, the Director of International Education is encouraged to accelerate internationalization efforts through the strengthening of double degree, joint degree, and joint supervision programs, expanding student mobility, developing international classes, and increasing the number of international students. “IPB must increasingly become an integral part of the global academic community,” he affirmed.
The Director of Career Development, Entrepreneurship, and Alumni Relations has been tasked with ensuring that IPB University graduates are swiftly absorbed into the workforce, establish their own enterprises, or pursue further studies. Alumni relations are also to be strengthened as a reflection of institutional reputation and as co-creators in the university’s transformation.
The Rector further highlighted the role of the Secretary of the International Research Institute for Food, Nutrition, Health, and Halal in reinforcing international research collaboration and establishing a halal incubator center that bridges research and industry. Additionally, officials at the Institute for Agromaritime Development and Innopreneurship Acceleration are encouraged to develop a self-sustaining Science Techno Park (STP) that contributes to institutional income generation.
Governance and financial sustainability were also emphasized, including the strengthening of the Office of Campus Security, Safety, and Protection, as well as the professional and data-driven management of endowment funds and investments by the Investment and Business Agency.
“We aspire to build IPB University as an institution that not only generates knowledge, but also delivers solutions; not only produces graduates, but also cultivates leaders,” he remarked.
He concluded by urging all appointed officials to carry out their responsibilities based on three core values: integrity in governance, courage to innovate, and sensitivity to social impact, in order to realize a collaborative, adaptive, and future-oriented IPB University.
