EduAsiaNews, Bandung – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) held a ceremony to commemorate National Education Day (Hardiknas) 2026 on Saturday (May 2, 2026) at the ITB Rectorate Building, Jalan Tamansari, Bandung. The ceremony was conducted solemnly and attended by members of the university leadership, faculty, administrative staff, and students.

On this occasion, the Rector of ITB, Tatacipta Dirgantara, who served as the ceremony inspector, delivered a speech from the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto. Carrying the theme “Strengthening Collective Participation to Realize Quality Education for All,” this year’s Hardiknas commemoration emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in delivering education that is inclusive, relevant, and impactful for society.

“Education is the fundamental foundation of a nation’s civilization, as well as a key to addressing various global challenges, ranging from digital disruption and the climate crisis to changes in the world of work driven by the advancement of artificial intelligence,” the Rector stated.

Education is not merely viewed as a process of knowledge transfer, but also as a space for character building and shaping the nation’s future.

Furthermore, the transformation of higher education is directed toward three main priorities. First, expanding inclusive access to education so that all citizens have equal opportunities to pursue higher education.

“Second, strengthening collaboration between universities and various stakeholders to deliver concrete solutions to societal problems. Third, advancing research that is not only publication-oriented but also generates innovation and tangible impacts for national development,” he added.

Through this Hardiknas momentum, universities are encouraged not only to excel in the development of science and technology but also to actively contribute to solving national challenges. The spirit of collaboration involving academia, industry, government, and society is key to driving this transformation.

The Hardiknas ceremony also served as a shared reflection that the success of education is not solely measured by the programs implemented, but by the real impact experienced by society.

“All elements of the nation are expected to continue working in synergy to build an equitable and sustainable education ecosystem,” he remarked.

The Rector of ITB affirmed that education is a shared responsibility. “From today’s learning spaces, Indonesia’s future is being shaped—through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to continuous progress,” he concluded.
