EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — The Student Association of the D3 Banking and Finance Study Program (HIMAPRODIKAP), Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), held a Financial Literacy Seminar on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Muh. Yamin Building, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diplomacy Laboratory Room, UPN “Veteran” Jakarta, as well as online via Zoom Meeting. The seminar was attended by students of the D3 Banking and Finance Study Program and was also open to students from other universities, featuring professionals from the banking industry as speakers.
The seminar served as a platform for students to broaden their understanding of financial literacy and management, develop their competencies, and prepare themselves for the professional world, particularly in the banking and financial industries. Through presentations, experience-sharing sessions, and interactive discussions, participants were expected to gain insights into workplace challenges and the skills required to navigate the professional environment.
The event opened with remarks from Aminah Tasya Alhumairoh, Chair of the Organizing Committee, and Vinsensius Deni Wijaya, Chair of HIMAPRODIKAP. They encouraged students to actively participate in the seminar and make use of the knowledge gained as a foundation for personal development, while also contributing to improving financial literacy in society.
Further remarks were delivered by Dr. Dewi Cahyani Pangestuti, S.E., M.M., CRP, GRCE, Head of the Department of Management, and Dr. Mira Rahmi, S.E., M.B.A., Coordinator of the D3 Banking and Finance Study Program. Both expressed the hope that the seminar would encourage students to engage actively in discussions, broaden their perspectives, and strengthen their competencies before entering the professional world. The event continued with the presentation of certificates to the speakers and a documentation session before proceeding to presentations on career development, workplace readiness, financial management, and opportunities in the banking industry.
The materials were delivered by Dinna P. Silalahi, S.S., M.M., and Vania Angela Wibowo Sulaeman, S.Ak., who discussed career development and preparedness for the professional world. Drawing on the principle that “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,” they encouraged students to take the initiative in developing themselves, recognize their potential, improve their public-speaking skills, adapt to changing circumstances, and build experience through various opportunities.
The speakers also introduced the “Smart Solution” concept—Sigap (Responsive), Menarik (Engaging), Antusias (Enthusiastic), Ramah (Friendly), and Teliti (Thorough)—as well as the principles of Simak (Listen), Open Minded, Lengkapi Data Nasabah (Complete Customer Data), Utamakan Nasabah (Prioritize Customers), Telling Solution, Inisiatif (Initiative), and On-time Follow Up as approaches to professional customer service.
In addition, the seminar addressed financial management, particularly the responsible use of credit cards in accordance with one’s financial capacity. Students were also reminded to avoid illegal online lending services and online gambling, which can lead to serious financial problems in the future.
The discussion subsequently explored the speaker’s experience adapting to the banking industry despite not having an educational background in banking. She emphasized that educational background is not the only determining factor in building a career. A willingness to learn, adaptability, and participation in training programs, including problem-solving and stress-management training, are essential skills for navigating a dynamic work environment.
Through the Financial Literacy Seminar, HIMAPRODIKAP sought to equip students with knowledge of financial management, skills and character development, and professional readiness. The knowledge and experience gained are expected to be applied in both everyday life and the workplace, as well as shared with the wider community through community service activities aimed at improving financial literacy.
Thus, the seminar served not only as a forum for knowledge-sharing between industry professionals and students but also as a means of fostering a financially aware, adaptable, and competent generation capable of responding to the evolving dynamics of the banking and financial industries.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
