EduAsiaNews, Maluku – Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Universitas Pattimura (Unpatti), Prof. Dr. Dominggus Malle, S.Pt., M.Sc., attended a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) organized by the Maluku Provincial Government on Monday, August 31, at the Meeting Room on the 6th Floor of the Maluku Governor’s Office.
The FGD carried the theme “Optimizing and Strengthening the Maluku Energy Forum (FEM) to Support PRKBI in Maluku Province.” The activity aimed to strengthen the role and capacity of the Maluku Energy Forum as a collaborative platform for stakeholders in supporting sustainable energy planning, development, and utilization in Maluku Province.
In his remarks, Head of the Maluku Provincial Energy and Mineral Resources Agency, Dr. Abdul Haris, S.Pi., M.Si., stated that the Maluku Energy Forum serves as a platform bringing together various stakeholders in the energy sector. The forum provides a means of communication and coordination among the local government, business sector, communities, academics, professional associations, and other stakeholders in supporting the implementation of regional energy policies.
He explained that the Maluku Energy Forum was established through Maluku Governor’s Decree No. 1853 of 2024, dated November 7, 2024. The establishment of the forum forms part of efforts to strengthen the participation of various stakeholders in regional energy management, particularly in supporting the implementation of the Maluku Provincial Regional Energy General Plan (RUED).
The establishment of FEM is also supported by Maluku Provincial Regulation No. 1 of 2022 concerning the Regional Energy General Plan of Maluku Province. The regulation provides a legal basis for the regional government to establish a non-structural institution as a platform for stakeholder involvement and participation in energy management.
Furthermore, Dr. Abdul Haris explained that regional energy policies must continue to be aligned with national energy policies. The Maluku Provincial RUED was formulated with reference to Law No. 30 of 2007 on Energy, the National Energy Policy (KEN), and the National Energy General Plan (RUEN).
In line with developments in national policy, the Maluku Provincial Government is currently undertaking a revision of the RUED to align it with the evolving dynamics and direction of national energy policy.
In this process, the Maluku Energy Forum is expected to play a more optimal role by strengthening communication and coordination, facilitating knowledge exchange, and conveying recommendations from various stakeholders.
With these efforts, FEM is expected to function not only as a communication forum but also as a platform capable of contributing ideas and solutions to various challenges in energy management in Maluku, while supporting the development of sustainable regional energy planning that is responsive to community needs.
