FISIP UPNVJ Hosts International Visiting Professor: Strengthening Strategies for International Journal Publication

EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UPNVJ (FISIP) of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) held an International Visiting Professor event titled “Publishing a Reputable International Journal: Strategies for Success” on Monday, March 30, 2026.

The event, held at the FISIP UPNVJ Auditorium, featured Prof. Dr. Mikihiro Moriyama from Nanzan University, Nagoya, Japan, as the keynote speaker to share strategies for publishing in reputable international journals. The session commenced solemnly with the singing of Indonesia’s national anthem, Indonesia Raya, and the Mars Bela Negara, representing UPNVJ’s institutional identity.

On this occasion, an Implementation Agreement (IA) was also signed between Prof. Dr. Mikihiro Moriyama, representing Nanzan University, and FISIP UPNVJ to strengthen cross-border academic collaboration.

The Rector of UPNVJ, Anter Venus, emphasized the importance of adopting a disciplined and thorough academic culture, as practiced in Japan. He highlighted that interaction with international experts is a strategic step to enhance the global competitiveness of lecturers and students. “Thoroughness is one of many characteristics of how Japanese people learn,” said Anter Venus in his remarks.

He also noted the depth of research in Japan, stating, “When talking about data, it is evidence-based; that is already part of the academic culture there.”

The event specifically addressed the technical and methodological aspects of writing scientific articles to meet the rigorous standards of international publication. Prof. Mikihiro Moriyama, an expert in Indonesian Studies, shared his perspectives on the importance of strong data-driven research and consistency in developing academic traditions. The session, which began at 09:00 WIB, aimed to motivate FISIP UPNVJ’s academic community to be more productive in producing globally recognized scholarly work. In addition to presentations, the forum also provided an interactive discussion space to explore sociological and cultural challenges in journal writing for Indonesian researchers.

Through the IA with Nanzan University, FISIP UPNVJ reaffirmed its commitment to expanding actionable international partnerships. This collaboration encompasses joint research development and sustainable knowledge exchange in the future.

The primary focus of this collaboration is to ensure that academic standards at FISIP UPNVJ continue to improve through benchmarking with overseas institutions.
