First Ramadan Safari, UNJA Visits Jami’ Al-Jadid Mosque to Strengthen Its Impactful Campus Initiative

EduAsiaNews, Jambi – Universitas Jambi (UNJA) held its first Ramadan Safari at Jami’ Al-Jadid Mosque, located on Jalan Simpang Rimbo, marking the first of eight scheduled locations. The activity, which included the presentation of souvenirs, took place on Saturday (21/2/2026).

The Ramadan Safari was attended by the Rector of UNJA, Helmi; the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Fauzi Syam, S.H., M.H.; the Vice Rector for Planning, Finance, and General Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Depison, M.P.; and the Vice Rector for Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems, Prof. Dr. Revis Asra, S.Si., M.Si. Also present were mosque administrators and members, including Dr. Fuad Muchlis, S.P., M.Si., education staff, students, and local residents of Jami’ Al-Jadid Mosque.

In his remarks, Rector Helmi stated that the Ramadan Safari aligns with the mission of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology to foster impactful researchers and impactful campuses for society. He emphasized that UNJA is committed to strengthening its engagement with mosque congregants and the surrounding community through religious and social initiatives.

According to him, UNJA’s presence within the community represents a tangible manifestation of the university’s mission to serve as a campus that delivers direct benefits to its surrounding environment.

“UNJA is aligned with the mission of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, namely fostering impactful researchers and impactful campuses for society. Therefore, our first step is to draw closer to the mosque congregants and the surrounding community, and secondly, to further connect UNJA with the broader public,” the Rector stated.

Meanwhile, Dr. Fuad Muchlis, S.P., M.Si., as a representative of the Jami’ Al-Jadid Mosque management, conveyed that the Ramadan Safari serves as a means of strengthening ties between UNJA and the local community. He expressed hope that the presence of UNJA’s leadership would dispel the perception of the university as an “ivory tower” and instead demonstrate its tangible contributions to society.

“God willing, this fellowship will further strengthen the relationship between UNJA and the community. We hope that UNJA will continue to be present and provide direct benefits to society,” said Dr. Fuad.

He further explained that Jami’ Al-Jadid Mosque has been actively organizing regular dawn religious studies led by academics and religious figures. Moving forward, he expressed hope that the synergy between the mosque and UNJA will continue to grow for the greater public good.
