EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — Entering the first quarter of the 2026 fiscal year, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) has demonstrated significant progress across various areas, including academics, institutional development, accreditation, internationalization, and university rankings. These achievements were presented directly by the Rector of UPNVJ, Prof. Anter Venus, during the First Quarter 2026 Performance Achievement Monitoring and Evaluation Meeting held at the Nusantara 1 Meeting Room on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the UPNVJ Supervisory Board, Dr. Ismail Hasani. During the session, the Rector presented a number of institutional achievements, strategic program developments, and plans for strengthening the university’s institutional capacity that have been implemented and are currently underway in the first quarter of 2026. The monitoring and evaluation meeting served as an important forum to assess the extent to which the university’s work programs have been carried out in accordance with established targets, while also functioning as a platform for evaluating and improving performance in the upcoming period.

In his presentation, Prof. Venus stated that UPNVJ continues to show positive progress in various aspects, ranging from new student admissions, strengthening of academic programs, accreditation, recognition of prior learning, international student admissions, and university rankings. According to him, these achievements must continue to be closely monitored to ensure a direct impact on academic quality, governance, institutional reputation, and UPNVJ’s contribution to society.

One of the highlights presented during the meeting was the achievement of the Film, Television, and Media Studies Program, which this year became one of the most competitive study programs in the 2026 National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) admission pathway. This accomplishment reflects the growing interest among prospective students in film and media studies, in line with the rapid development of the creative industry and the national film ecosystem.

Prof. Venus also highlighted the support from the Provincial Government of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta for the development of the film industry, considering Jakarta’s direction toward becoming a cinema city. This support was conveyed by Deputy Governor Rano Karno during his recent visit to UPNVJ. In this context, UPNVJ sees substantial opportunities to further strengthen the Film, Television, and Media Studies Program, particularly through the support of human resources possessing expertise and experience in filmmaking, television, and creative media.

In addition, UPNVJ has also recorded progress in the implementation of the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program. To date, nine study programs have implemented RPL, consisting of five study programs through the credit transfer pathway and four study programs through the credit acquisition pathway. The Rector emphasized that the implementation of RPL, particularly through the credit transfer pathway, requires a detailed, rigorous, and accountable process to ensure the maintenance of academic quality standards.

For the credit acquisition pathway, particularly at the master’s degree level, professional work experience, competency certificates, official appointment decrees, and other portfolio evidence may be considered in the recognition process. Prof. Venus explained that the development of RPL at UPNVJ reflects a positive direction and forms part of the university’s efforts to provide broader and more inclusive access to higher education without compromising academic quality standards.

In the field of internationalization, UPNVJ is also preparing to admit international students in 2026. The Rector stated that the university aims to recruit 64 international students from various countries. This program will be supported through scholarship schemes, both partial and full scholarships, including opportunities for prospective students from underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions (3T areas). This initiative forms part of UPNVJ’s strategy to expand its global network, enhance academic diversity, and strengthen the university’s position within the international higher education ecosystem.

From the accreditation perspective, the Rector explained that 41 percent of study programs at UPNVJ have achieved the highest accreditation status, “Excellent.” This accomplishment provides broader opportunities for the university to develop new study programs. According to Prof. Venus, a culture of quality assurance has gradually been established across all faculties. Notably, the Faculty of Engineering has achieved 100 percent “Excellent” accreditation status for all of its study programs.

UPNVJ also continues to encourage the growth of international accreditation as part of its efforts to strengthen academic competitiveness. International accreditation is considered essential to ensure that UPNVJ’s study programs not only meet national standards but are also capable of competing within global higher education quality standards.

In terms of rankings, UPNVJ has also shown progress in the SINTA ranking system by securing the 85th position. This achievement is considered highly encouraging, particularly for UPNVJ as one of Indonesia’s newer public universities that continues to improve its research productivity, scientific publications, and academic contributions by faculty members.

Through this monitoring and evaluation meeting, UPNVJ reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening performance-based governance, improving the quality of academic and non-academic services, and ensuring that every strategic program is implemented in accordance with established targets. The presence of the Supervisory Board during this agenda also reflects efforts to strengthen accountability, transparency, and the sustainability of the university’s performance.
The First Quarter 2026 Performance Achievement Monitoring and Evaluation Meeting is expected to serve as a momentum for all work units within UPNVJ to conduct comprehensive evaluations, address existing shortcomings, and accelerate the achievement of performance targets in the upcoming quarter.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
