EduAsiaNews, Bandung— The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) an Eid al-Fitr gathering on 1 Shawwal 1447 AH at the ITB Rector’s Residence on Saturday (March 21, 2026). The event was held in a warm and familial atmosphere and was attended by the Rector, members of the ITB leadership, faculty, administrative staff, out-of-town students, and international students.

This event served as a moment of togetherness for the academic community to reconnect after observing the عبادah of Ramadan. The presence of faculty members, administrative staff, out-of-town students, and international students further enhanced the warm atmosphere and reflected the strong sense of kinship within ITB.

The Rector of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., extended his Eid al-Fitr greetings to the entire academic community. He expressed hope that the occasion would bring blessings to all and serve as an opportunity to return to one’s pure state.

“Happy Eid al-Fitr. Taqabbalallahu minna wa minkum—may all our عبادah and fasting be accepted, may we return to our pure state, and may everyone be able to reunite with their families in happiness and strengthen familial bonds,” he stated.

He also expressed hope that the gathering would provide comfort to students who miss the Eid atmosphere in their hometowns or countries of origin.

“Through this event, we hope that students who long for the Eid atmosphere back home can find some comfort,” he added.

For out-of-town and international students, the event held special significance. Despite being far from their families, they were still able to experience the warmth of Eid al-Fitr with the extended ITB family. This moment also became a friendly space for members of the academic community to connect.

Hasan Pervaiz, a doctoral student in Mathematics from Pakistan, expressed his खुशी at being able to participate in the event. He has been living in Indonesia for more than two years. For him, the gathering was a valuable opportunity to build connections with the ITB community.

“I have been here for over two years. Through this event, I can connect with the Rector, lecturers, and fellow students,” he said.

He added that the event helped ease his longing for Eid celebrations in his home country, especially as the food served was quite similar to what he usually enjoys during Eid in Pakistan.

A similar sentiment was shared by Muhammad Hanif, a 2024 Geological Engineering student from Riau who currently resides at the Kidang Pananjung ITB Dormitory. He stated that the event helped alleviate homesickness for students from outside Java.

“For us students from outside Java, this is a remedy for our longing for family warmth. There is also food provided, and after Eid we can reconnect with the Rector and fellow out-of-town students,” he said.

Through this event, the campus is not merely a place of learning, but also a shared home that unites individuals from diverse backgrounds.
