EduAsiaNews, Surakarta — In an effort to enliven the blessed month of Ramadan, the Dharma Wanita Persatuan Universitas Sebelas Maret (DWP UNS) Surakarta once again organized its annual social initiative titled DWP UNS Peduli. This program is held regularly each year as a manifestation of compassion and a spirit of sharing with others.

As part of the DWP UNS Peduli series, DWP UNS held a Ramadan Bazaar at the UNS Auditorium Courtyard on Tuesday (March 3, 2026). The bazaar provided basic necessities at highly affordable prices. In addition, it featured a sale of quality secondhand items, including clothing starting from Rp2,000.

The Chairperson of the Ramadan Bazaar Committee, Iffa Adimagna, stated that during the event, 1,091 basic food packages donated by sponsors and benefactors were distributed. All packages were allocated to 1,091 designated recipients in accordance with previously established criteria, including cleaning staff and security personnel at UNS.

“Ramadan is a month of sharing. Through this activity, we hope to bring happiness and ease the burdens of our brothers and sisters in need,” she remarked.

DWP UNS conveyed its highest gratitude and appreciation to the Rector of UNS and the university leadership for their full support in organizing the event. Appreciation was also extended to the sponsors and donors, including Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), Bank Jateng, Bank Jatim, Bank Mandiri, Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), Konimex, the UNS Dies Natalis Committee, and all other parties who contributed but cannot be mentioned individually.

The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret, Hartono, expressed his appreciation for the successful organization of the Ramadan Bazaar and the Free Distribution of Basic Food Packages initiated by DWP UNS. He emphasized that the bazaar and food distribution were not merely annual ceremonial events, but tangible expressions of solidarity and mutual cooperation within the UNS community.

“I would like to extend my appreciation to DWP UNS for taking the initiative to organize this event with a strong spirit of care and sharing. This activity not only provides direct benefits to the recipients of assistance, but also strengthens the sense of brotherhood within the campus community,” stated Prof. Hartono.

Prof. Hartono also conveyed his gratitude to all sponsors who supported the event. Such support was considered highly meaningful in realizing a social initiative that directly impacts security personnel and cleaning staff, who play an essential role in supporting the university’s daily operations.

“May similar initiatives continue and grow in the years to come. The spirit of sharing and social responsibility must always remain a culture within UNS, so that the university excels not only in academic achievements but also in humanitarian values,” he concluded.
