EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta conferred degrees upon 765 graduates on the second day of its 141st Graduation Ceremony for the 2025/2026 Academic Year, held at the Harun Nasution Auditorium on Sunday (September 6, 2026). The graduates comprised 215 from the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU), 416 from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), and 134 from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), as part of the overall graduation series that will confer degrees upon 3,154 graduates.
The ceremony began with an opening session, recitations of verses from the Holy Qur’an and the Qur’an Sign Language recitation, prayers, and the reading of Rector’s Decree No. 516 of 2026 concerning the Graduates, Outstanding Graduates, and Graduates with the Best Theses of the 141st Graduation Ceremony, followed by the formal conferral of degrees by UIN Jakarta Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D. The ceremony was attended by Secretary of the University Senate Prof. Bambang Suryadi, Ph.D., Vice Rectors, faculty leaders, members of the academic community, as well as the parents and guardians of the graduates.
Under the decree, UIN Jakarta recognized four outstanding graduates on the second day of the 141st Graduation Ceremony. From the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Khaerul Umam of the Master’s Program in Qur’anic Studies and Exegesis (Ilmu Al-Qur’an dan Tafsir) achieved a GPA of 3.96, followed by Muhammad Khairurrozikin from the same study program. The next honoree was A. Sayyidul Afkar from the Sharia Banking Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, who achieved a GPA of 3.97. The final cum laude honoree was Nurul Hidayah from the Pharmacy Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences, with a GPA of 3.92.
These achievements form part of UIN Jakarta’s academic recognition of graduates who demonstrated outstanding performance throughout their studies. The awards not only recognize academic achievement as an indicator of success but also underscore the importance of carrying the values gained through education into life after graduation.
As an outstanding graduate from the Faculty of Ushuluddin’s Qur’anic Studies and Exegesis Study Program with a GPA of 3.96, Khaerul Umam led the Sarjana Pledge (Prasetia Sarjana), representing hundreds of graduates. The pledge expressed a commitment to putting its values into practice, including becoming a UIN Jakarta graduate who makes a positive impact on society by upholding Islamic teachings.
“As Muslim graduates, we pledge to faithfully uphold and practice the teachings of Islam and remain conscious of our responsibility toward the welfare of the ummah, the future of the nation, and the Republic of Indonesia based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution,” Khaerul said in the pledge, which was recited by hundreds of graduates.
Meanwhile, outstanding graduate A. Sayyidul Afkar emphasized that the journey toward graduation does not follow a uniform path. Each student has their own story, challenges, and direction, yet all are brought together through a learning process that ultimately leads them to the graduation milestone.
“The theme of today’s graduation, ‘Strengthening Innovative, Integrity-Driven, and Humanity-Oriented Graduates,’ is not merely a theme for today’s event. Rather, it serves as a reminder of the values that we should carry with us after leaving university life,” he said.
According to Sayyidul, being an innovative graduate does not always mean creating something on a grand scale. Innovation can begin with the courage to express ideas, seek solutions to problems, and maintain a commitment to continuous learning. However, these abilities must go hand in hand with integrity so that the knowledge and competencies acquired can be used responsibly.
“Being intelligent and innovative is not enough. We must also have integrity—remaining honest, responsible, and trustworthy, even when no one is watching us. These values will serve as the foundation for how we use the knowledge and abilities we have acquired,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nurul Hidayah explained that her academic achievement was also shaped by her organizational experience and the challenges she faced in completing her undergraduate thesis research. During her studies, she was actively involved in the Jakarta KSE Association and undertook an internship with the Indonesian Pharmacist Youth Group (IYPG) DKI Jakarta.
“The greatest challenge during my studies came while conducting my thesis research. Because I used a new method and experimental animals in the field of pharmacy, I had to go through a process of trial and error. However, with the support of my academic supervisor, I was able to complete the research successfully. I am now continuing directly to the Pharmacist Professional Education Program,” she said.
Her experience demonstrates that academic achievement is not solely the result of the final outcome but also emerges from the process of facing challenges, trying again after setbacks, and receiving support from the academic environment. For Nurul, this journey has provided valuable preparation for pursuing the next stage of her education.
The graduation series underscores that the 141st Graduation Ceremony is not merely about recognizing academic achievements but also about upholding the Islamic teachings students have learned throughout their education. This milestone marks the beginning of a new phase, carrying three core values reflected in the graduation theme: innovation in responding to change, integrity in applying knowledge and competencies, and meaningful contributions to humanity. Thus, academic honors and achievements serve as a starting point for graduates to demonstrate their quality through tangible contributions after leaving the university.
