EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., reaffirmed UPNVJ’s commitment as a National Defense University to producing graduates who excel academically while also possessing skills relevant to the needs of the workplace and industry.
Anter Venus made the statement during the 2026 Industrial Fair Seminar (INFAIR) at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (BTI) Auditorium on UPNVJ’s Pondok Labu Campus in Jakarta on Wednesday (Sept. 23, 2026). The seminar featured Indonesian Manpower Minister Prof. Yassierli, Ph.D., as one of the speakers.
“As a National Defense University, UPNVJ is committed to producing graduates who excel not only academically. We also ensure that our graduates, particularly those from the Faculty of Engineering, possess strong skills that are relevant to the needs of industry,” Anter Venus said in his remarks before the Indonesian manpower minister.
According to Anter Venus, one of the university’s efforts to achieve this goal is through the development of learning in the Industrial Engineering Study Program, which continues to be aligned with developments and needs in the industrial sector. This approach is important to ensure that students gain not only theoretical knowledge in the classroom but also an understanding of the dynamics, challenges and competencies required in the real-world industrial environment.
“We continue to seek ways to bring our students closer to the real world of industry. Therefore, the presence of the Indonesian manpower minister at INFAIR 2026 is particularly important in providing students with valuable insights while strengthening meaningful collaboration between UPNVJ and the government, particularly in the field of employment,” he said.
The rector added that collaboration among universities, the government and industry was needed to narrow the gap between graduate competencies and labor market needs. Through INFAIR 2026, UPNVJ is encouraging higher education to become increasingly relevant to industrial developments and national employment needs.
“The university environment must become increasingly relevant to industry and Indonesia’s employment needs. We want what students learn to have a clear connection with the competencies required when they enter the workforce,” Anter Venus said.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
