EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — The Pencak Silat Student Club (UKM) at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) secured five medals at the 4th International Indonesian Open 2026 for Pencak Silat, marking an international achievement for the university. The haul consisted of one silver and four bronze medals won by students from three UPNVJ faculties.
The championship was held from Sept. 14 to 21, 2026, at the Indonesian Pencak Silat Padepokan in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta. The achievement adds to UPNVJ students’ contributions through non-academic accomplishments while providing the athletes with an opportunity to test their skills in an international competition.
The silver medal was won by Dinda Azka Aulia, a student in UPNVJ’s undergraduate Law Study Program at the Faculty of Law, in the Women’s Adult Individual category.
Meanwhile, Shintya Rahmawati of the undergraduate Development Economics Study Program at UPNVJ’s Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) won a bronze medal in the Women’s Adult Singles category.
The three other bronze medals were won by UPNVJ students competing in the Women’s Adult Team category: Dinara Safina of the undergraduate Information Science Study Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP); Nabilla Arinda Pasha of the undergraduate Development Economics Study Program at FEB; and Siti Nur Alliah of the undergraduate Management Study Program at FEB.
Participation in the championship not only provided the students with valuable competitive experience but also an opportunity to hone their techniques, mental readiness, teamwork and sportsmanship while competing against athletes from various contingents.
The achievement of the five students demonstrates that UPNVJ’s efforts to develop student potential extend beyond academic activities to include the development of interests, talents and sporting achievements. Student clubs serve as one of the platforms for students to develop their abilities while gaining competitive experience beyond the campus environment.
The achievement by UPNVJ’s Pencak Silat Student Club is also expected to encourage other students to actively develop their potential, continuously improve their skills and participate in competitions at both national and international levels.
The achievement is in line with UPNVJ’s efforts to build a student environment that supports the development of high-achieving students with a strong sense of national responsibility, while enabling them to contribute to and uphold the university’s reputation through their respective fields of expertise.
