EduAsiaNews, Denpasar — Udayana University (Unud) is seeking to strengthen integrated governance through a workshop on implementing effective internal communication standard operating procedures (SOPs). The initiative is part of the university’s preparations to become a legal-entity state university (PTN-BH), while ensuring that work processes across units are clear, measurable and accountable.
The workshop was held on Thursday (Sept. 17, 2026) at the meeting room of the third floor of the Master of Management Building at Unud’s Faculty of Economics and Business in Denpasar. It was attended by university leaders and representatives of the Information and Cooperation Management Unit (UPIKS).
The workshop was opened by Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information Prof. Made Sucipta. In his remarks, he said governance and information were two key pillars that needed to be strengthened as the university prepared to become a PTN-BH.
“There are two important pillars: governance and information. Governance must be built on a clear system, including standardized SOPs, so that everyone understands their duties, functions, responsibilities and workflow,” Sucipta said.
He explained that SOPs should clearly outline the person in charge (PIC), work stages, completion timelines and expected outputs. As a result, SOPs should not remain merely administrative documents but serve as practical guidelines for carrying out tasks and measuring performance.
“SOPs should not simply become documents. They must be implemented in our day-to-day work. At a PTN-BH, this system will also be linked to performance measurement, so we must complete both its formulation and implementation together,” he said.
The workshop featured two speakers from the Association of Indonesian Public Relations Companies (APPRI), Dr. Ni Made Ayu Helena Cornellia and Ayu Kusumaningtyas, B.A.
In her presentation, “Effective Internal Communication Strategies,” Cornellia discussed various challenges in organizational communication, including unclear instructions, delays in information dissemination and siloed working practices between divisions. She stressed the importance of establishing a structured communication flow, from stakeholder mapping and message development to assigning persons in charge and evaluating communication outcomes.
Meanwhile, Kusumaningtyas presented “Beyond the Lectern: Building Fast, Clear and Transparent Campus Internal Communication.” Her presentation highlighted the importance of effective internal communication through the optimal use of information technology and digital portals, strengthening the role of UPIKS, and implementing top-down, bottom-up and horizontal coordination.
Through the workshop, Unud sought to establish a shared understanding and commitment to implementing SOPs and strengthening communication across university units. The improved governance is expected to become part of a professional, transparent, accountable and integrated work culture that supports the university’s overall performance.
