EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), through its Student Executive Board (BEM), held the UKM Expo 2026 at the Pondok Labu Campus, South Jakarta, on Saturday (September 5, 2026). Under the theme “Create Your Spectrum,” the event provided an opportunity for students, particularly members of the 2026 incoming class, to learn about various Student Activity Units (UKM), explore their interests and talents, and identify extracurricular activities that best match their potential.
The UKM Expo took place from morning until afternoon at several locations across the Pondok Labu Campus, including the Main Field, the ceremonial field in front of the Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Building of the Faculty of Medicine, the field in front of the Soepomo Building, the brown-tiled area of the Faculty of Economics and Business, and the Internet Plaza at the Jenderal Soedirman Building. The event featured UKM exhibitions, booth visits, main-stage performances, interactive sessions, and dedicated exploration periods for students.
A total of 30 Student Activity Units participated in the UKM Expo 2026. These organizations represented a wide range of fields, including the arts, sports, religious activities, social and humanitarian initiatives, leadership, media, and student networking. The diversity of UKMs offered students a broad selection of extracurricular activities through which they could develop their capabilities beyond academic pursuits.
Among the UKMs introduced during the event were Teater Hijau Lima Satu, Pencak Silat Veteran Jakarta, the Nature Lovers Student Organization (MAPALA), the Student Regiment, KSR PMI Unit UPN “Veteran” Jakarta, Veteran Jakarta Esport, Seni Tari Veteran Jakarta, the Gita Advayatva Student Choir, AIESEC in UPNVJ, Taekwondo Veteran Jakarta, Karate UPN Veteran Jakarta, and several other student organizations.
The UKM Expo 2026 went beyond simply showcasing organizational profiles. Through a rotating booth-visit concept, students had the opportunity to interact directly with UKM members, learn about their work programs and activities, and observe the work, performances, and demonstrations presented by various student organizations.
Also attending the event was Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Information Systems, dr. Ria. During her visit, dr. Ria presented a laptop to a UPNVJ freshman who successfully answered a question and demonstrated a genuine need for the device to support their studies throughout their university education.
The event was divided into two series of visits. Participants took part in inter-zone mobility sessions, booth visits, free-time and exploration sessions, as well as activities at the main stage. This format was designed to ensure that students did not merely receive information but could gain a closer understanding of the character and activities of each organization before deciding which ones they wished to join.
Chair of the UKM Expo 2026 Organizing Committee, Najla Luqiyana Khaas, together with the UPNVJ BEM committee, positioned the event as both a promotional platform and a means of facilitating regeneration within student organizations. The UKM Expo is expected to provide broader opportunities for new students to contribute, build networks, gain organizational experience, and develop non-academic skills.
Strengthening student activities is also aligned with UPNVJ’s approach to student organization development. UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA., Comm., previously emphasized the importance of synergy, collaboration, and tangible impact in the management of student organizations. At the 2026 inauguration of UPNVJ student organizations, the university encouraged UKMs to serve as productive spaces for developing students’ potential while putting the values of National Defense into practice through activities and achievements.
Through UKM Expo 2026, UPNVJ is strengthening a student learning ecosystem that extends beyond the classroom.
