EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — The Faculty of Law at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (FH UPNVJ) held its 2026 Faculty-Level Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) on August 12–13, 2026, at The Allwynn Ballroom, CIBIS Business Park, South Jakarta. Under the theme “Bringing Differences Together Toward One Goal,” the program was attended by 558 new students from two study programs and provided orientation on academic life, student activities, integrity, campus safety, and professional development.
FH UPNVJ Dean Dr. Suherman, S.H., LL.M., said the theme reflected the diversity of students who come from different regions, ethnicities, religions, and backgrounds. Rather than becoming a dividing line, this diversity is expected to serve as a unifying strength among students as members of the FH UPNVJ community.
“Students at the Faculty of Law come from different backgrounds, regions, ethnicities, and religions. Despite these differences, we share one goal: becoming part of the FH UPN Veteran Jakarta family,” Suherman said.
He explained that the 558 new students came from two study programs. The two-day PKKMB was designed to help students understand their academic journey while introducing them to activities and opportunities that can support their personal and professional development throughout their studies.
“Through this two-day PKKMB, students receive comprehensive information about the academic process from beginning to end. They are also introduced to various student activities they can participate in so that they can develop into professional and ethical individuals,” he said.
On the first day, Wednesday (Aug. 12), students received briefings from the faculty leadership, the Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Program in Law, and the Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Program in Business Law. The sessions provided an overview of the academic system, learning process, student programs, and various opportunities available to students during their time at FH UPNVJ.
The first day also featured Dr. Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, M.Si. as a speaker. AKBP Ema Rahmawati provided a session on efforts to create a safe campus environment. The agenda was further complemented by a Safe Space Simulation, faculty tour, and sharing sessions with representatives of the 2023, 2024, and 2025 student cohorts.
On the second day, Thursday (Aug. 13), FH UPNVJ featured Cahya Hardianto Harefa, Secretary-General of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), as one of the speakers. His participation provided students with broader insights into integrity, an essential foundation for future legal professionals.
The second day also featured an international session with an academic from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Malaysia, as well as introductions to student organizations and activity units within FH UPNVJ. Students were introduced to FKI Al-Hakim, UPS, ILSA, FRDM, SEMA, and BEM, along with sessions on library services and the Student Creativity Program (PKM).
The program demonstrated that the FH UPNVJ PKKMB was designed to go beyond administrative orientation. It provided students with a comprehensive introduction to their academic journey, organizational development opportunities, achievement culture, international networks, campus safety, and the importance of building integrity from the beginning of their university experience.
Such preparation is increasingly important as the legal profession continues to evolve and requires graduates to possess more than an understanding of laws and regulations. Students need to develop critical thinking, communication, collaboration, adaptability to technological developments, ethics, and integrity as they prepare to enter the professional world.
The 2026 FH UPNVJ PKKMB concluded with a message from the Dean, awards for outstanding groups, mentors, and participants, as well as a symbolic inauguration of the new students through the presentation of red jackets to student representatives and the recitation of the student oath.
The faculty-level PKKMB also reinforced UPNVJ’s commitment to developing students with Bela Negara character. UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm. has emphasized that higher education should not only develop academic competencies but also strengthen character, integrity, and students’ ability to create meaningful impact in society.
Through the theme “Bringing Differences Together Toward One Goal,” FH UPNVJ hopes the 558 new students will view diversity as a strength throughout their university journey.
