EduAsiaNews, Riau — Universitas Riau (Unri) students have once again achieved a remarkable accomplishment. At the 2026 Grand Final of the Financial Literacy Ambassador Competition organized by the Riau Provincial Office of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Unri students dominated multiple award categories, including sweeping all three top championship titles.
In the competition organized by the Riau Provincial OJK, Surya Darman was awarded First Place, followed by Jeselia Fransiska Br. Gurusinga in Second Place, and Neldia Zamriati in Third Place. All three are Universitas Riau students who excelled in the competition, which brought together participants from universities across Riau Province.
In addition to securing the top three titles, Unri students also earned awards in special categories. Shebrina Zuleyka Versha received the Best Social Media Ambassador Award, while Aisyah Yulfitri was named Best Knowledge Award recipient for her outstanding performance.
The Financial Literacy Ambassador Competition is one of the initiatives of the Riau Provincial OJK to cultivate young people as agents of change who can educate the public on the importance of sound financial management while raising awareness of fraudulent investment schemes, illegal online lending, and various forms of fraud in the financial services sector.
Universitas Riau Rector Prof. Dr. Sri Indarti, through Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni Prof. Hermandra, M.A., welcomed the achievement. According to him, the success of Unri students in the competition demonstrates both their academic excellence and their social commitment to contributing to the improvement of financial literacy within the community.
“Financial Literacy Ambassadors play a strategic role in raising public awareness of the importance of sound financial management. They not only possess a strong understanding of financial planning concepts but also serve as educators who encourage the public to remain vigilant against the increasingly sophisticated forms of financial fraud,” he said.
Hermandra further explained that through the program, students are equipped with knowledge of financial products and services, public communication skills, and effective strategies for delivering financial education to the community. These competencies are expected to foster a new generation of young leaders who will drive improvements in financial literacy across Riau Province.
“We hope this achievement will inspire other Universitas Riau students to continue developing their competencies, expand their contributions to society, and actively participate in building a community that is more financially literate, prudent, and better protected in utilizing financial services,” Hermandra concluded.
