This was conveyed by the Program Coordinator, Dr. Ana Kuswanti, M.Si., in an interview at the FISIP UPNVJ Building on Friday (April 17). The program has also received a “Very Good” accreditation from BAN-PT, affirming the quality of its governance and academic implementation.

Dr. Ana Kuswanti explained that the Master’s Program in Communication Science at UPNVJ is designed to respond to the evolving communication landscape, which is increasingly influenced by digital technological advancements, industrial transformation, and the growing complexity of societal needs. Therefore, the curriculum is structured to align with global developments while remaining rooted in the values of national defense, which are a hallmark of UPNVJ. According to her, this approach is essential to ensure that graduates possess not only academic competence but also social sensitivity, ethical awareness, and adaptability in the professional world.

“We develop a curriculum that is adaptive to global trends and aligned with the developments of the Industrial Revolution 5.0, so that graduates are not only academically competent but also relevant to industry needs,” said Dr. Ana.

To strengthen its academic distinctiveness, the program offers three areas of specialization: Urban Development Communication, Corporate Communication, and Digital Marketing Communication. These specializations are designed to meet the needs of both the public sector and industry, in line with the increasing demand for professionals capable of managing communication strategically, data-driven, and responsive to social change.

In addition, the learning process in the Master’s Program in Communication Science at FISIP UPNVJ is supported by an international standards-oriented approach. This direction aligns with the program’s vision to develop innovative, competitive strategic communication education with a national defense identity. In terms of career prospects, the program offers a wide range of opportunities, including roles as communication policy analysts, digital communication practitioners, development communicators, communication researchers, professional communication supervisors, and academics. These diverse prospects demonstrate that the demand for master’s-level communication graduates continues to grow, particularly in an era when public institutions, corporations, and society alike require effective, credible, and impactful communication strategies.
