EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) held a Pre-Graduation Briefing for Prospective Graduates of the Odd Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium on February 9, 2026. The activity was attended by prospective graduates from all study programs within FISIP.
The briefing commenced with a Faculty Senate Session attended by the FISIP UPNVJ deanery. This senate session marked the beginning of the briefing series as well as the strengthening of academic identity for prospective graduates before entering the professional world.
In his remarks, the Dean of FISIP UPNVJ, Dr. S. Bekti Istiyanto, M.Si., emphasized the importance of self-confidence as a key asset for graduates. According to him, FISIP students are equipped with academic competence, values, and integrity that must be trusted as strengths to compete in the professional arena.
“Self-confidence is a fundamental foundation. FISIP graduates possess the knowledge and character needed to adapt to the ever-changing dynamics of the workplace,” he stated.

Following the senate session, the event continued with a briefing session themed Personal Branding and Professional Ethics in the Digital Era. The session featured Arfiana Maulina as the keynote speaker, moderated by Rut Rismanta Silalahi, a lecturer in Communication Studies at FISIP UPNVJ.
In her presentation, Arfiana explained that personal branding represents public perception of an individual’s professional identity, shaped by reputation, expertise, values, and behavioral consistency, particularly in the digital space. She emphasized that recruitment processes increasingly take candidates’ digital footprints into account.
Arfiana also outlined challenges commonly faced by fresh graduates, such as intense competition, weak differentiation, and unclear professional positioning. Therefore, students were encouraged to build personal branding from an early stage by identifying areas of interest, strengthening portfolios, consistently sharing ideas, and strategically utilizing professional digital platforms.
In addition to personal branding, professional ethics in the digital era was also highlighted. Students were reminded that behavior on social media reflects a long-term professional identity. Problematic content—such as the spread of hoaxes, toxic speech, or violations of privacy—was considered potentially damaging to reputation and career prospects.
Through this briefing, FISIP UPNVJ hopes that prospective graduates will be not only academically prepared, but also equipped with mental readiness, professionalism, and ethical awareness to face an increasingly competitive and dynamic world of work.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
