EduAsiaNews, Yogyakarta— The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) received a donation of 40 cattle from two partner companies engaged in the livestock industry, namely PT Juang Jaya Abdi Alam and PT Sido Agung Farm, to support the development of the SMART Veterinary Teaching Farm in Playen, Gunung Kidul. The Dean of FKH UGM, Prof. drh. Teguh Budipitojo, M.P., Ph.D., stated that the cattle donation from these partners is expected to support the teaching facilities and research resources of the SMART Veterinary Teaching Farm, thereby enhancing the educational process and the competency development of future veterinarians.

Teguh expressed his appreciation for the support and trust given by PT Juang Jaya Abdi Alam and PT Sido Agung Farm in assisting the development of student competencies as well as the SMART Veterinary Teaching Farm. “We sincerely thank PT Juang Jaya Abdi Alam and PT Sido Agung Farm for their strong support in the development of the SMART Veterinary Teaching Farm,” said Teguh in a statement sent to journalists on Sunday (February 8).

According to him, the presence of this learning facility is specifically intended to improve the quality of education and student competencies, particularly in practical skills and field understanding for the health care and breeding of ruminant animals. “Adequate practical facilities are a key requirement for students to engage in hands-on learning at the practice site,” Teguh explained.

The cattle handover ceremony was marked by the signing of a cooperation agreement between FKH UGM and the two partner companies, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially inaugurate the cattle barn.

The General Manager of PT Juang Jaya Abdi Alam, William Bulo, stated that this collaboration is part of the company’s commitment to contribute to education and the enhancement of the national cattle population. “We always aim to contribute to the academic sector in Indonesia, while also helping to increase the country’s cattle population. This is the reason we are donating 21 cattle and collaborating with FKH UGM,” he said.

Through this collaboration, William hopes that the SMART Veterinary Teaching Farm will develop into a research facility while also strengthening the relationship between universities and the livestock industry. “Our expectation from this partnership is that it will support student competencies, serve as a research facility, and foster cooperation with the industry,” William concluded.

The cattle handover ceremony was attended by UGM’s Director of Research, Prof. Dr. Mirwan Ushada, Marketing Director of PT Sido Agung Farm, drh. Asrokh Nawawi, and General Manager of PT Juang Jaya Abdi Alam, William Bulo, along with faculty officials and department heads of FKH UGM.
