EduAsiaNew, Hanoi — Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) has launched two new interdisciplinary training programs focused on digital agriculture. The initiative aims to equip the younger generation with the skills needed to tackle the challenges of modern agriculture while embracing smart technologies.

The programs combine information technology, engineering, and agricultural sciences, providing students with hands-on experience in using big data, smart sensors, and automation in agricultural production. These efforts reflect global trends emphasizing digitalization in the food sector and sustainable resource management.

The Rector of VNU-HCM highlighted that the programs go beyond traditional academic learning. “Through these initiatives, we aim to prepare graduates to compete internationally and contribute to the growth of digital agriculture in Vietnam and across Southeast Asia,” he said.

VNU-HCM is partnering with research institutions and technology companies to provide modern laboratories, field testing facilities, and internship opportunities, ensuring students gain practical experience. The programs are envisioned as a model for interdisciplinary education that other universities in the region can replicate.
