
EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – UPNVJ Public Relations – The Rector of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), Prof. Anter Venus, attended the Presidential Briefing with higher education leaders held at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (January 15, 2026). Prof. Venus was accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Dr. Jubaedah, S.E., M.M., the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Suherman, S.H., LL.M., and the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Dr. S. Bekti Istiyanto, M.Si. Their presence reflected UPNVJ’s active participation in this national strategic forum, which brings together university leaders from across Indonesia.
From 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. WIB, Prof. Anter Venus participated in the meeting, which was directly led by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, along with leaders of public universities (PTN), private universities (PTS), and several distinguished professors. The event aimed to provide guidance to more than 1,000 higher education leaders throughout Indonesia regarding the strategic role of universities in national development.
The Presidential Briefing with Higher Education Institutions was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) in collaboration with the State Palace as a strategic forum for conveying the President’s directives to university leaders. The forum serves as a national consolidation space to strengthen synergy between the government and higher education institutions.
The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Brian Yuliarto, stated that in his address, President Prabowo emphasized that PTN and PTS leaders, as well as distinguished professors, are the “brains of our country.” They are selected individuals with high intellectual capacity, entrusted as academic leaders and guardians of the nation’s knowledge. The President encouraged university leaders to reflect on their contributions to society, the nation, and the country.

Moreover, the President expressed hope that universities and distinguished professors take an increasingly important role in Indonesia’s development. Amid evolving global challenges, universities are expected to serve as engines of innovation and science-based solutions.
The President also highlighted significant global geopolitical shifts, which require each nation to be self-reliant and resilient. In this context, universities and distinguished professors are expected to become locomotives of Indonesia’s progress amid global dynamics and abundant natural resources. Universities are encouraged to cultivate superior human resources who are not only highly capable and competent but also possess strong integrity, nationalism, and commitment to the interests of Indonesian society and the nation.
In response to the President’s guidance, Prof. Venus stated that the Presidential Briefing serves as a reminder and reinforcement of the strategic role of universities in addressing the nation’s challenges.
