Disaster Impact in Aceh

Data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) as of 22 December 2025 indicate that Aceh recorded the highest number of fatalities resulting from floods and landslides, with 477 deaths. The victims were spread across several regencies, including North Aceh, Aceh Tamiang, East Aceh, Bireuen, Bener Meriah, Pidie Jaya, Central Aceh, Southeast Aceh, Gayo Lues, as well as the cities of Langsa and Lhokseumawe.

In addition to the loss of life, the disaster severely damaged healthcare infrastructure, with 13 hospitals and 122 community health centers (puskesmas) affected across Aceh. Of these, 10 hospitals and 65 puskesmas have not yet been able to resume normal operations.

In North Aceh Regency alone, records show that 363,249 people were affected, with 865 sustaining minor injuries, 120 suffering serious injuries, 133 fatalities, and 304,361 people displaced. Damage to healthcare facilities included 12 puskesmas with moderate damage and 6 with severe damage, including Lhok Beuringen Health Center and Simpang Tiga Health Center, both of which remain unable to provide basic healthcare services.

Intervention Locations

The second deployment wave of the UPNVJ PKM team will focus on two affected community health centers in North Aceh Regency: Simpang Tiga Health Center in Simpang Tiga Village, Langkahan District, and Lhok Beuringen Health Center in Lhok Beuringen Village, Tanah Jambo Aye District.

Planned activities include the establishment of emergency healthcare posts and mobile clinics, the provision of essential medicines and medical equipment, training for local healthcare personnel, as well as disease prevention interventions and sanitation education. The team will also coordinate with Syiah Kuala University, the Crisis Center of the Ministry of Health, the North Aceh Health Office, and the Indonesian Emergency and Disaster Nurses Association (HIPGABI).
