EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – The Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ) was noticeably livelier on Thursday, December 11, 2025. That afternoon, the campus—known for its commitment to national defense education—served as a meeting space for academics, law enforcement, and local government officials in a key agenda: drug prevention.

UPNVJ collaborated with Pondok Labu Village and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of South Jakarta to conduct an anti-drug awareness program for the academic community. The outreach went beyond presenting data and risks; it encouraged participants to engage in dialogue on early prevention strategies within the campus environment.

Ahmad Sulaiman, Junior Expert Drug Counselor from BNN South Jakarta, explained the impacts of narcotics from multiple perspectives—including health, legal, and social consequences. He emphasized that campuses are strategic spaces for building resilience among young people against narcotics.

“Prevention must start with a comprehensive understanding and the courage to remind each other,” Sulaiman said.

Also present was Nachnoer Vernier, Head of Pondok Labu Village, who highlighted the importance of collaboration between universities and local authorities. During the event, he appointed four UPNVJ staff members as Anti-Drug Ambassadors: Disa Prihantini, Nabila Permata Sari, Muhammad Irfan, and Muhammad Angga. They are expected to lead campaigns promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle within the campus community.

Drs. Sarlan, Head of UPNVJ’s Student Affairs Team, noted that the activity aligns with UPNVJ’s identity as a national defense-oriented campus.

“The threat of narcotics is not only an individual issue but also a threat to national resilience. Therefore, the role of students and the entire academic community is crucial,” Sarlan said.

He added that through initiatives like this, UPNVJ aims to reinforce its commitment as an educational institution that not only produces academically outstanding graduates but also actively addresses social issues.

“Drug prevention is part of the campus’s tangible contribution to society,” he concluded.
