EduAsiaNews, Semarang – The Faculty of Psychology at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) commemorated its 31st Anniversary on Friday (August 21) at the Prof. Darmanto Jatman Hall, Faculty of Psychology Building, UNDIP. Held under the theme “Building a Sustainable Indonesian Psychology Education Ecosystem: Synergy between Science and the Profession for National Progress,” the event provided an opportunity for the Faculty of Psychology UNDIP to reflect on its journey while strengthening its contribution to the development of psychology education in Indonesia.
UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., in his remarks, emphasized that the presence of university and faculty leaders underscored the importance of developing psychology education as part of higher education’s contribution to addressing societal challenges.
Dean of the Faculty of Psychology UNDIP, Prof. Dian Ratna Sawitri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., Psychologist, said the anniversary served as an opportunity for the faculty to reflect on more than three decades of its development while reaffirming its commitment to advancing sustainable psychology education.
The highlight of the 31st Anniversary celebration was a scientific oration entitled “Relevant and Impactful Psychology: Building an Education Ecosystem Amid Changing Times.” The oration was delivered by Rahmat Hidayat, S.Psi., M.Sc., Ph.D., Chair of the Association of Indonesian Psychology Higher Education Institutions (AP2TPI) and Dean of the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).
In his address, Rahmat Hidayat highlighted the importance of developing a psychology education ecosystem capable of responding to the changing times. The theme aligns with the spirit of the 31st Anniversary of the Faculty of Psychology UNDIP, which emphasizes synergy between academic knowledge and professional practice as a foundation for developing sustainable psychology education that delivers meaningful benefits to society.
The anniversary celebration also provided an opportunity to strengthen the spirit of collaboration within the psychology education community. Through its chosen theme, the Faculty of Psychology UNDIP reaffirmed the importance of psychology education that is not only oriented toward advancing academic knowledge but also capable of responding to societal needs and contributing to national progress. The anniversary theme specifically positioned sustainability, academic synergy, and professional collaboration as essential elements in building a sustainable psychology education ecosystem in Indonesia.
The anniversary programme began with a traditional dance performance by students of the Faculty of Psychology UNDIP who are members of the Independance Student Activity Unit (UKM). The performance opened the event while showcasing Indonesia’s rich artistic and cultural heritage as part of the anniversary celebration. The programme continued with the screening of a profile video of the Faculty of Psychology UNDIP and a zero-waste video.
Overall, the 31st Anniversary of the Faculty of Psychology UNDIP served not only as a celebration but also as an opportunity to reflect on the role of psychology education in responding to the dynamics of a changing world. Through the anniversary commemoration, the Faculty of Psychology UNDIP continues to promote the strengthening of Indonesia’s psychology education ecosystem through synergy between academic knowledge and professional practice for national progress. The celebration marked not only the institution’s journey but also reaffirmed its commitment to providing psychology education that is relevant, sustainable, and capable of delivering tangible benefits to society.
